Photograph of two works in progress, “Grin” and “Cthulhu” by Jyri, 2010.
The “GRIN” is almost ready. It’s pencil, washes, ink and oil pastel on MDF board. I sketched out the teeth in pencil, added washes, then painted the black with ink and then added some color and contrast with oil pastel.
The “Cthulhu” is still very early, and it’s a rough experiment in impasto effects. All acrylics on paper. Not quite sure if it’ll work out, but we’ll see. The cthulhu in this painting is coming out way too squidlike, so that might mean I’ll go for a new attempt after I’m done with this one. But this has been so far an interesting experiment.
